The Tanzania Coastal Management Partnership (TCMP) was created in 1997 through collaboration of U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), Tanzania National Management Council (NEMC) and the Coastal Resources Centre (CRC) at the University of Rhode Island to creating healthy coastal environments in Tanzania, and registered as a professional networking non-profit organization in Tanzania in 2008. The organization’s coverage is of the coastal areas of Bagamoyo and Pangani districts and Menai Bay Conservation Area in Zanzibar. The most important accomplishments of the organization are the formal adoption of the National Integrated Coastal Management Strategy by Tanzanian Government in December 2003, and the adoption of National Coastal Tourism Investors' Guide, Mariculture Investors' Guide and the production of the periodic Tanzania State of the Coast Reports.
